More About Absolutely Incredible Kid Day®

#KidDay has reached 115+ million people over the past seven years with past sponsors like Amazon Studios, Warner Bros., and Disney Studios/20th Century Fox.

Participants have included notable individuals and brands, from Hallmark (here, too) and Bounty Paper Towels to Harrison Ford, Jonathan Bennett, Jaymes Vaughan, Official T Lopez, James Derrick, Oprah, Pro Football Hall of Fame Inductee Jerry Rice, U.S. Astronaut and former Senator John Glenn, and former presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush.

Last year, #KidDay 2024 reached 3.7 million people, had 29 participating organizations, and 1.8 billion impressions.

Absolutely Incredible Kid Day_® is Camp Fire’s annual, award-winning national call to action.  This event is held on the third Thursday of every march and asks adults to write letters of love, encouragement, and inspiration to the children in America.  These children could be in their family, their neighborhood, or even to a child they don’t know who may be in a homeless shelter or hospital.  We hope that writing a letter to those children will become a habit that adults will continue throughout the year.

Absolutely Incredible Kid Day_® builds a child’s morale by encouraging adults to reach out to them with good ol’ fashioned positive reinforcement.

How can people participate in Absolutely Incredible Kid Day®?

AIKD is for all adults who want to let children know how special they are. The call to action is simple: write a meaningful letter to a child in your family, your neighborhood, your school, or even to a child you don’t know who may be in a shelter or hospital.

You can also participate by creating a short video message, voice recording, or digital letter sharing words of encouragement.

Top 10 Absolutely Incredible Kid Day Letter-Writing Tips

1. Set aside 10–20 minutes in a quiet place where you won’t be interrupted.

2. Picture the child and think about the things you appreciate about them.

3. Try starting with: “Do you know what I like about you? I like it when you…”

4. Be specific and descriptive. Use humor when appropriate. Avoid lecturing.

5. Don’t worry about length—short notes can be just as meaningful.

6. Writing by hand can make it extra special, but typed notes are great too.

7. You can mail it, place it in a lunch box, leave it on a pillow, or read it aloud.

8. If you send a video or voice message, keep it genuine and from the heart.

9. Don’t worry about the child’s reaction—your words still matter.
